Macross Frontier is a 25-episode anime TV series released in 2008 to commemorate the franchise’s 25th anniversary. For me, the most memorable thing is no doubt its music. A songstress Sheryl Nome who sings 射手座☆午後九時 Don’t be Late on stage in the very first episode struck me. Today, let’s pay a visit to the songs of the space idol—the Galactic Fairy. The echoes of her voice still lingers in the galaxy after all these years.

The story of the 25-episode series I don’t quite remember. But I think most people who like the Anime is mostly because of the characters, mecha design, and songs. Macross is a show where some aircraft can transform into Valkyries to fight alien monsters in space to defend humans. The most iconic element is the songstress who sings JPop music in space. The songs synchronizing in the background during the fights is why it’s so “lit”. If you’re into Anime, I think we’ll all agree that JPop songs rock!

I kept looping the music over and over after I binge-watched it. In my opinion, the best ones are: Diamond Crevasse, Aimo, and 射手座☆午後九時 Don’t be Late. Those pieces of music were one of the best things you could enjoy from a Anime. The vocalist May’n did a fantastic job and she deserves more recognition. I searched for her live performances and I was very impressed. Take a look at this concert in 2018. The audience was very hyped too. She sings like we’re listening to CD-quality music, but it's live!

I’m now rewatching the series. At the time, it was also the release of another Anime series Fullmetal Alchemist 鋼の錬金術師(Hagane no Renkinjutsushi) (2009). It was a 64 episodes series and I watched it every week for more than a year. I will revisit it again after I finish Macross Frontier. So, see you next time.
